Of Blasphemy and bible stories

If ever it existed, it would have been the most blasphemous bible story ever...

So What the hell am I talking about?  Its my friend and co-faculty (and classmate in the early years), he has had problems regarding his students behavior and has asked for my help. Naturally my presence as a seat-in professor during his class did wonders... except for a  few lunkheads at the back row.

And that was when he heard someone talking about games. Although majority of the class were riveted to his discussion (which wasnt boring for a change, given that I suggested that I make the quiz for him *die children die!*), it still is unforgivable.

And then it began, a mid-lesson scolding which went like:

"You know, games and college students can be likened to the story of Samson and Goliath ...."

The Blasphemy was unleashed

Samson and Goliath? Is that some sort of biblical homoerotic story? The priests would be shouting blasphemy, in chorus. He actually made a fool of himself in class, and it could be partly my fault because I was the one who laught first and made the ridiculous comment. Instead of just saying "wasnt that supposed to be Delilah?"

Revelations and Announcements

First and foremost I would like to proclaim the delayed announcements:

1. I graduated last May
2. I am now working as a faculty to my alma mater
3. Ill be a father soon
4. And I might no longer use the Gallagher surname in a few months

Told you my life was more dramatic than any soap opera, minus the kidnapping...

1 and 2 is pretty much "nuff said"

3 on the other hand... I dont want to mention doctors names. They did their own epic fails, and so does the condom. On the bright side, my wife-to-be will only have to deal with one pregnancy, and one nervous waiting moment for me. We got two boys in one go, identical if Im not mistaken.

Of course I didnt miss the shout-fest with my father, and Ive never met my girlfriend's father. My girlfriend's mother wasnt impressed, and has had word with my parents.

Quote:
"I liked him for my daughter, but what just happened was way too fast"

My mother was of course shocked.
But I was more shocked when she was excited about having twin grandchildren.

Gee, Ill never get to enjoy being single after college after all...

We will be having a civil wedding on the 15th...

Church wedding? Dunno, although the mothers want us to have one.

4- And the surname thing? Turns out my Grandfather originally carried the surname "Matheson" before being adopted by the Gallagher family. I dont know the details, but it was brought about quite a stir (before the pregnant girlfriend issue came in) since Gramp's death.
I dont know, but I might get renamed for the second time...

Fresh out of college: Out of the pan, into the fire

I thought my academic hell was over when I graduated last term (Month of May, so close to my birthday) and yeah I didnt announce it because of Murphy's Law

"If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong"
or something like that

I worry that if I ever declared it, it might get delayed and may not have happened. Which would have made me and my father "sad" enough to go on a rampage in the campus.

Anyway, I didnt graduate with honors, Im too humble to actually tell it *ahem* kidding aside, I can now officially work in my father's company. Yeah right reel in the moolahs and whatnot, BUT the problem is... todays fad

The bloody Recession

As a decision of my own, Ive decided to get some work experience so if the worst occurs I still got tricks up my sleeve.
Hence:
The teaching job, yeah I know It sucks... Big time.
But I know I had to, other than the issues my current department is in like
(Faculty Unavailability a.k.a. "FUN" and Im not joking) and other greenhorn faculty from "other" schools *snicker*
I wanted to contribute something to my alma mater before I finally leave the Philippines and its rotten politics behind in favor of the land of my birth, ahhh Scotland - the land of kilts and claymores.

Sure love for alma mater is cheesy.

I thought I'd love this job
but Im starting to think I dont, well in fact that some of my co-faculty (some of which are my batchmates who have graduated earlier) said that teaching the subject will be a difficult only at first. And will be easy until the next curriculum change...

Indeed, of course they already made their exam question sets [which they only remix for every term]
theye also already made their lecture/discussion notes [which will be replayed every term, with some updates inserted]

and basically thats it, classroom drama will then remain dependent on the environment and student behavior.

Classroom Drama?
Well yes, Ive got some of that now.
Ive declared some "house rules" in my class, among a few are:

1. You must have your OWN book, receipt must be taped at the back of the front cover with owners name written in bold at the top edge
and will be signed by me. No book no entry.
2. Arrive for class five minutes before the time
3. be prepared with own supplies
4. Absolutely no noise during discussion, talk only when reciting
5. Absolutely no phones and/or any electronic devices in class
6. Parents letter AND medical certificate must be handed over in case of Absences, OR parent/guardian will have to speak to me in person.
7. Follow School Rules
8. Follow instructions

The rules shout out aloud the importance of responsibility, studying requires responsibility, diligence dedications and (whatnot)

They tell me Im too strict? come on! would you rather have a lenient professor and end up being dumb?

One particular student complained about the book, and insisted to just borrow one from another student from the other class.
A book hardly worth 450 Philippine Pesos (approx  $9) which she will be using for more than four subjects? What is that book for? A pass to get into my class???

Geez, I wasted half of the period giving out a sermon to the entire class and five of them used to be my classmates.

Additionally, they said Im starting to sound like the dreaded "Madam Tiger", thats because I patterned my houserules from hers...

But honestly do I sound like the Professor from hell to you?

A Disturbing Dream

Its been months since the day we said goodbye, maybe not the last goodbye but a good bye in the sense that we wont be together again. She belongs to someone else now, and Im all to myself at least I wot be seeing her often but she often lingers in my mind even if I mentally push away the image of her.

And then just when I resolved never to think of her ever again, this disturbing dream comes along to ruin it.

In it I was walking at the park, it oddly familiar I was pretty sure that place was certainly in Scotland. I was even surprised with what I looked like, stout but not fat, and I looked somwhat in my early thirties and had a full beard. Then suddenly there was a little boy probably around 4~5 years old who clung to my pants leg and said:
Daddy, Im hungry. Can we go back to mommy?
Then another boy came to us running they looked identical with the one clinging to my leg
I carried the both of them and then headed towards "mommy"
She was sitting on a chair by the picnic table.
I was greatly curious yet excited, what does this dream have for me?
then I noticed the woman's hair was brown, it wasnt "her" and she appeared taller than my ex.
Then she turned to face me...
She looked just like "her", Exacltly like "her" ,she was like a westerner version of "her"
I set the kids down and she said in a voice that was very different but it was like music to my ears
Like father like sons nothing more than food to keep these hyperactive twins quiet
then we kissed lips to lips

and then

My alarm bell rang, I was between WTF! and WTHell was that?
Is my subcnscious trying to tell me something or is it tyring to make me feel good.
One of my friends told me that it pobably meant "There are lots of fish in the ocean"
and yet another told me to find a way to get her back

For once this is something I cannot freely consult family members, my dad and brothers would simply dismiss the issue and tell me to act like a man. And my mom would surely tell me to "do as you feel is right" but I dont know what is right in this situation, maybe someday, not today not tomorrow but someday.

The biography of a mentally unstable college student

Forty years ago in far-away Scotland, a man in his twenties was forced to be wed to his girlfriend after getting her pregnant in a night of wild celebration. However even when the family started off with a shotgun marriage it was nevertheless a so called “match made in heaven”, at first there was just one son, then came another. The man provided well for his family, he believed in a family first approach and the children grew in a loving environment even with disputes from the elder members of the family. Within a few years the father has reached a lofty position in his job and the family rose from the middle class, only then did the family disputes end. And then things went pretty redundant, father goes to work taking the kids with him and dropping them off at school while the mother stays at home, occasionally visiting their new business venture from time to time. Then when his first son had reached the age of eighteen, one day the man and his wife sat together and spoke, and for whatever reason it was, the woman left and was never heard from again. The man was devastated, then he became obsessed with his job, his first son were sent to a boarding school and the other was left in the care of the grandparents. He ended up owning part of the company and expanded the little business venture they started before. Then he decided to try finding ways of expanding his business to the other countries in Europe, first off was England.

Twenty two years ago in the beautiful islands of the Philippines a young woman finished her studies and was about to begin her career as a dentist, strong willed, gutsy, smart and beautiful she had the perfect blend of Filipino-Japanese traits. Her father was a Filipino businessman who seems to have an extreme obsession with his business. The young woman was arranged to be married to another businessman’s son, she objected to it after all she was an independent thinker, when everything was inevitable she “escaped” gathering her savings and with the blessings from her mother she left their house taking only a few articles of clothing, money and a passport. Not really sure about where to go she took a pen wrote down eight different countries on the papers edges stood the pen on the middle of the paper and let go… the pen pointed to England. She had her papers done and then she flew to England on the earliest trip.

It was a cold in London that wintry day, the petite lady from the Philippines was rushing towards a hotel’s entrance she was somewhat inappropriately dressed for the weather mainly because of the different climate she want used to, she was just about to go through the door when a snowflake got into her eye, she paused for a while to wipe it off and when she was about to enter the establishment she was literally plowed by a man of lofty height and stature.

The man wasnt expecting to find such "poorly made" coffee from such a classy hotel, but then he needed his early morning caffeine fix. Trying to remember where the coffee shop he saw earlier was, he marched through the hotel doors like a soldier on the double time, though not really noticing the petite lady right in front of him until they collided.

It was a rather violent collision that destiny seemed to have planned for the Scotsman named Cedric Ransford Gallagher and the Filipina named Maria Consuelo Silvestre. A rather rough and unusual meeting brought about an awkward introduction and then an invitation to a breakfast at the coffee shop. Maria would not have accepted the invitation, it was her routine: she never accepts any invitation from any man she had just met. This was different, though probably intimidated by Cedric’s appearance that she agreed we may never know. They had a friendly talk and had spent nearly an hour and a half just on that then Cedric accompanied her back to the hotel before finally parting ways, unsure whether they will meet each other again.

A few months later Marie took a tour around UK, visiting well known places as well as UK's different old churches(being of religious upbringing) all of them including Edinburgh Cathedral. Though Edinburgh Cathedral was last in her itinerary it was where she meets Cedric for the second time. She was walking out of building when he met a man who seemed familiar but younger and then another who was a lot younger and finally then Cedric himself. Another short chat and then she was introduced to his two sons, followed by an invitation to dinner (which she almost declined). Like before they had spent some time talking after the meal, although  there was a certain feeling that she wasn’t welcome. Kristoff didn’t want the young woman anywhere near his father … period, but there was nothing he could do when he went back to boarding school. Eventually, Marie settled in Scotland found work with the assistance (or maybe influence) of Cedric.

From acquaintance to friend the relationship grew, Cedric was constantly being advised by his friends to remarry (because he was still young) and Marie intended not to go back to the Philippines because she was surely going to be married to a man she never knew, nor like. One time Marie called home to tell of the man she met and had began to have feelings with but she was met with a stiff NO from her father (but her mother said she should follow what she believes is right) in reply she declared that she was never going to come home even with her inheritance on the line and then hung up.

It had been a year since they first met, in celebration Cedric threw a party on a beach resort with close friends and Cedric’s two sons it went well and throughout the night. The beer left nobody somber; the last thing Cedric remembers is that he was sitting by the shoreline with Marie watching the stars in the sky. That morning he woke up in his room, beside him was Marie they were both naked beneath the sheets and they had sand all over them. "Le oops by the sea side" (as I call it). A civil marriage was held two months later, they weren’t married at a church yet due to differences in religion, but the most important was they were married and they loved each other.

Tenth of May, Twenty years ago in a hospital in Edinburgh a bouncing baby boy *bounce-bounce* was born into a rather unusual family. His father was the now 40 year old Cedric, a successful engineer who ran his own business and his mother was Maria a 29 year old dentist who came from the Philippines. Some might find it strange that the man was nearly twice his wife’s age, in some cultures it may border on the taboo, but what the hell: love is love. The baby boy was named Jeremiah after a biblical figure, he was his mother’s firstborn son but his father’s third son. Kristoff (Kristofferson), now 20 attends college at E.U. while the eight year old Ryan (Ronald Ryan) was moved back home it was a happy family again except for the added member and the hints of hostility from the eldest son.

When Jeremiah was four Maria decided it was high time to make her peace with her father, the family went to the Philippines except for the two older sons who were attending school at the time. Maria did not know how to approach her father, so they decided to buy their own house knowing that the reconciliation may take long. Cedric being the opportunistic businessman started a new business, a bookstore situated near a place called U-belt (university belt) where well known universities are near one another. Jeremiah started in Nursery and was doing well particularly with speaking in English, he could already read as well as write, inevitably he was the first in their class. And then they finally decided it was time, with Jeremiah in tow they paid a visit to Maria’s parents. It didn’t go to well, Maria ended up arguing with her father. They spoke in Filipino so that Cedric wouldn’t understand.

Maria’s father sill wanted her to go with the initial plans, reasoning out that a civil marriage could be “dissolved” all it needed was money. Maria declared that she went home with no intentions of doing so. Then there was hostility, days later the bookstore “mysteriously” burned down, and then a month later Maria gave up, apologizing to Cedric she returned to her parents. However the greedy grandpa wasn’t contented yet, he wanted the boy too. Cedric left for Scotland dejected and very angry. Maria was forcefully married to a man she didn’t like or know for that matter.

Jeremiah was completely clueless of what had happened, he was convinced by his grandfather that his father left him because he didn’t want him anymore (I still hate myself for foolishly believing him). But little Jeremiah seemed undaunted he performed well in school staying at the top 1 from K1 to K2. At age 8 he started grade 1 still topping the class until grade two. Grade three was probably the worst time for the boy, jealous classmates began teasing him with all sorts of things and probably the one he found the worst was to be called gay. The typical school bullies we encounter are mostly the bigger kids, but in the Philippines the smaller kids tend to be the bullies because they go in groups. One day Jeremiah simply had enough of being teased(and having his lunch thrown at the garbage) that he lashed out sending one bully to the floor, another to the chair and another one with a black eye. It was only him that was given disciplinary measures (the bullies ****** parents had more influence, and Marie’s husband didn’t care because Jeremiah wasn’t his son anyway) from that day onward Jeremiah knew that with his bigger stature (and nice fists) he could defend himself. He regularly aced quizzes and kicked asses he even kicked asses for kids who were bullied, so he was a regular at the principal’s office. At fourth grade till fifth, he was a force to be reckoned with, although still the typical geek he lost interest in getting the first honors and was content being second or third. At sixth grade he no longer kicked asses, with an army of kids who were once bullied by his side, bullies became scarce.

Then came high school, Jeremiah never forgot his father, sometimes he doubted what his grandfather told him, his mother never wanted to talk about it either, he wanted to know but he couldn’t. Adolescence came quick, the somewhat fat kid became a (somewhat) tall lanky teenager. High school brought about new versions of bullies and bitches, fortunately nobody wanted to mess with the big fisted kid who always carried a bag of books around like it weighed nothing. High school wasn’t too eventful, Jeremiah was always in the top five at my first and second year but then he dropped from the ranks completely by the time he was in third year till fourth. Why? Because of the asshole his mom was married to along with his spawn: three obnoxious brats who even fail in elementary subjects.

March 2004 I completed my last final exams, after this its graduation… which will be after several weeks of preparation. The night after the last final exams I was assigned to the checking and recounting of the week’s income of one of the stores that my mom’s family owns it was a large-ish sum of money but I always did this sort of thing. When I was done I was to submit the report to my grandfather but on the way to his private study I overheard their conversation. Mom’s husband was questioning grandpa about why they were funding my education and the answer was “We can use him, he could propagate the business, don’t worry everything will still go to your children…”

Too bad for them I was no idiot, they got no report that night, and the fun thing is that I did almost exactly the same thing my mom did years ago, I still had the store’s income with me all I did was to take some clothes and “fade away into the night… like batman XD”. They found my note that morning. I would probably be right if I said that the only people worried about my state would be my grandma and mother the other two asses would be worried about the cash. I called home at noon and stated my conditions “ I want to see my Father, period no buts no ifs and I want to meet him at my school before my graduation.” Having good relations with my teachers I knew I had the upper hand in case they tried any tricks and nobody who would most likely be my biological father should appear. Where did I stay during the time? It happens to be close to the school I’m currently studying at, I was at the Manila Hotel the whole time :D of course none of them knew. It took five days and the only people who called me regularly was my mom and grandma, then I was told that my father has already arrived. I did take my time in going back from where I stayed mainly because I was still suspicious, until my high school teachers told me that a man whom I have a striking resemblance to; arrived along with my mom and the rest of her family. I snuck into school and tried to spy at them but my grandmother saw me (maybe she’s ninja no? shes the one responsible for mom being half Japanese after all). My grandpa was more relieved when the money was returned >_> as usual but they were complaining about me spending some of it for my unnecessary trip (esh! Them asses they should be kicked!)

I was hugging my mom until she whispered “Your dad misses you a lot too” then she pointed to somebody behind me with her brows and lips (it’s a uniquely Filipino way of pointing discreetly). I guess not very many kids experienced the same thing I did, seeing your father after like 12 years of separation. I looked silly, I was staring at the tallest person I’ve ever seen face to face. He looked like a basketball player and a weight lifter rolled into one and the striking resemblance (minus some Japanese features). The next moment was the best father and son moment I’ve ever had, I couldn’t speak, and Ill always remember what he kept saying “I thought I’d never see you again”. Mom and grandma was crying too and then I managed to say something “I’m going with dad”, I heard mom say “you should”, I saw grandma smile, but grandpa frowned, the other ass seemed content that I’d be out of his life too.

At my graduation only my Mother, Grandma and Father attended, it was also the happiest day of my life but probably only second to the day I was reunited with my father.

Today as most of us know, my eldest brother remains to have a open semi-hostile behavior towards me. My other brother Ryan is one of my best buddies.

I remain to have a close relationship with my father (unlike most males of my age)

My mom and her husband are moving towards annulling their marriage, she declared that he was incompetent (or something like that, I do believe he is an incompetent loser anyway)

My Japanese grandmother (mother’s side) is most probably having her tea with her friends up in heaven

And my grandfather (mother’s side) is still unable to speak and is still recovering from the stroke he suffered last April.

If you’re reading this then you probably know me, yeah my name used to be Jeremiah but my dad had me renamed before entering college I’m now named Clark Walter, and I will forever keep the nickname my grandma gave me “Hiroshito” or “Hiro” and what my mom told me once “you are the light of my life” Light = Raito thus the “Raito Hiroshito” name :3

I am Clark Walter Gallagher a.k.a. Fenris Bearfist and this is the story of my life from then till now… (or at least a summary of it
